MECHANICAL ROOM

The mechanical room is the two-story command center for the facility. Sophisticated computer controlled mechanical equipment ensure that the building continually meets its design standards. The air handling equipment allows the laboratory areas to undergo multiple air exchanges per hour with complete replacement of exhausted air with fresh air drawn in from the outside. Special pressure monitors keep the laboratory areas at negative pressure relative to the rest of the building, which prevents any potentially contaminated air from escaping into the office or public spaces. Many of the energy saving design features are included in this room.
