The State and Metropolitan Nashville Medical Examiner's Offices and Forensic Medical support the community effort to maximize organ and tissue donation in cases where the next-of-kin has granted permission. As a result, a room dedicated to tissue donation was included in the forensic center. This room allows the medical examiner to view cases and document injuries prior to the donation procedure, and the local donor organization has a facility available to them at all times. The tissue donor room is equipped similar to an autopsy room and can be used for that purpose in case of emergency.
